people with no experience in entertainment are saying the most factually inaccurate things about how ratings work, how/why shows are renewed and how marketing campaigns work and I want to crawl out of my SKIN!! please stop believing ppl just bc they say things confidently!!
the way this is so unbelievably misleading. complex shows - esp ones with tonal shifts between seasons - need carefully considered marketing plans. marketing teams identify concerns BY DESIGN and then come up with a strategic media plan to best promote the show

anyways I loved the season finale of our flag means death! at first I didn’t know how the show could move forward from there but now I’m so excited by the possibilities of a third season! The acting and writing were beautifully done and I can’t get that ending out of my head.
izzy dying is not the same as him not meaning anything to the plot. his death was VERY meaningful! these characters are surrounded by death, they’ve all seen it and they’ve all caused it. dying to protect his loved ones is perhaps the most meaningful ending he could have #ofmd
i think the only thing im sad about is that we didn't get more time with izzy alive and thriving. and im sad about it. but it's a fitting ending for him. he died surrounded by love and while keeping his new family safe. the rest we can expand on in fanart/fanfic.
#ofmds2spoilers last soapbox, but it's concerning to me that a character being marginalized means that nothing bad can ever happen to them. or that their death/misfortune is always unnecessary or not impactful. that's not true, and izzy's death, while sad, had SO much impact
just because you dislike what happens to a character doesn’t mean it served no narrative purpose, please be so for real right now. just because it’s not what you wanted doesn’t mean it was for nothing.
relating to a character is all well and good but identifying with them so strongly that you see it as a personal attack on your identity when things happen to said character that you disagree with is actually so incomprehensible to me. #ofmd
