My child asked me if I’m Autistic. I said probably. My spouse blurted “I’m so sick of everyone diagnosing themselves with Autism”. We are not ok here. I shouldn’t have to hide myself in my own home.
Shutting down is not the same as purposely ignoring someone to be emotionally abusive. Totally different. Many Autistic people and traumatized people shut down, and it’s beyond their control. Nobody ever thinks about disabled people.
