Scale an org: From People to Roles. Tiny teams treat folks as unique individuals, not roles. By ~30-40 FTE? Everyone's boxed into org charts, defining themselves by role over skills. Ask yourself which one you prefer and where you fit?
Coding used to be like painting: start with a blank canvas and try to create something. With AI, it's more like sculpting: generate blocks of raw material and hack off the junk.
We all have the same 24 hours is b*llsh*t. The rich has assistants, chefs, cleaners, nannies, private jets. You're stuck at the DMV, in traffic and cleaning. Your 24 hours are not the same. You will have to work harder than rich people do to start.
Great surprise to see "The long game" by @Mehdiyac back after a year. The only newsletter I've actually read each week which is a good proof of high signal/noise ratio (and ofc overlap with my own interests). thelonggame.xyz
This is one of the things I truly believe but see few others do. All else equal, low headcount is a positive, to name a few of the reasons: - lower cost - easier to keep culture intact - easier to communicate - higher sense of ownership
This is a very good reminder for all of us with a constant drive for development. Take some time every now and then to build your confidence by seeing how far you've got.
Don’t forget how badly you once wanted what you have now.
This is the #1 challenge for most competent founders.
Your job as a founder is to only focus on your main priorities and say "no" to 100s of things that aren't.
This is a well-expressed formulation of an insight that changed my life. I and many others don't see wealth as a way to afford lying on the beach. Instead, it's a way to get to do exciting and great work without needing to spend time on the pointless stuff.
The goal isn’t freedom from work. The goal is freedom from pointless work.
It must be sad not to be optimistic when seeing this. Yes, labor cost decreasing is a short-term negative for some people, but it's possible to mitigate by being adaptable and proactive.
When the marginal cost of: - Energy - Labor - Intelligence Fall to ~$0. Humanity enters an era of ABUNDANCE. The future is gonna be amazing.
Most experts have no clue about how to give advice. If you're interested in a hyper-subjective after-the-fact narrative full of self-delusion and inherent bias, ask a founder what they'd tell their younger selves.
Slight over-simplification, but the fact that most people don't train hard enough to reach desired progress is indisputable.
the real reason you’re making no progress in the gym is because you don’t train hard enough not because you’re not following the latest science-based trends
just keep on grinding and success will eventually come yes, you need to learn when to pivot to not get stuck working on the wrong thing but the harder thing here is persistence
I think anyone could be successful making money online. The problem is that most people give up too early
this thread is full of examples that shows why you shouldn't listen too much to the critics
This put words on one of the biggest risks for intelligent people. They are too blinded by their potential and intelligence to see that action is needed to realize it. You can achieve a lot without of intelligence but with high agency but very little with vice versa.
nobody cares about your potential. potential is worthless. everyone has potential. what separates the greats from the wannabes is reality. finished work. shipped products. written pages. solved problems. stop talking about what you could do and go create proof of what you did.
Just built a simple app to simplify the process of finding a domain name and check availability quickly. Might be useful for anyone else who is also doing this way too often without committing. Free for now but all feedback is welcome. domainfinder.lovable.app

"Demo before memo" is a very useful principle. As a natural writer, I've always liked the idea of Amazons 6p-memos and the rejection of ppts. But, in the age of Gen AI you have a third alternative becoming more accessible. Build interactive demos to illustrate your ideas.
