I’d love to meet @wilw one day. I grew up on TNG and for what it’s worth I related to Wesley. Then it turns out Wil is awesome human and a punk rocker. I’m a punk too! Not only have I played with @KlingonPop but I bet Wil has at least heard of Common Rider or @TheBollweevils

It would be swell if @Microsoft would open-source @Windows Mail, Calendar, People, and Microsoft To Do. I would love to contribute to them.

The last @Windows 11 update wreaked havoc on my desktop. Not happy.

My friend Inga got in touch recently to talk about distributing her band's new album to all of the streaming services. It had me thinking about all of the discussions regarding equity in streaming music. Here's some back-of-the-napkin math. getrevue.co/profile/themiz…

It would be awesome if you could move a window from one desktop to another with a native keyboard shortcut in @Windows 11. More keyboard shortcuts for the shell, in general, would be appreciated.

If your application has become unwieldy and complex (like Fowler's Big Ball of Mud), get in there and remove lines of code. Measure them as a positive over lines of code added. #softwareengineering

Thank you for a great evening @LanghorneSlim.

I've done code organization all the ways. But, in my years in the biz, the best way IMHO is to organize by feature, not by tier or class type or anything else that reduces cohesion of a single feature. #softwaredevelopment #softwarearchitecture

Take some time to keep your dev tooling up to date in your projects/startups/enterprises. It will pay massive dividends.

Hey @bing and @Zendesk you both are getting paid by this uspassport.online scam thing! You need to stop doing that ASAP. It’s stealing peoples information spoofing being some official US Passport service!

It would be swell if mail on @Apple iPad had both a delete and archive button on the toolbar.

The goal is always to write less code, not more.

Did it! Wordle 207 6/6 #wordle 🟨🟨🟨⬛⬛ ⬛🟨🟨🟨⬛ 🟨⬛🟨🟨⬛ ⬛🟩⬛🟩🟩 🟨🟩⬛🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩

There are two qualities I think are important for a software engineer 1) know that you don’t know everything and that is ok. 2) be kind. So really… just try to be a good person.

I do very much wish that the iPad was capable of running proper dev tools or that someone would get more creative with cloud based tools that mix in native support for these devices.

You are not gonna read that many books in 2022. It’s ok.

One annoyance in PR diffs are lock files. Doing package adds/removes/updates in separate PRs is a way to deal with this in isolation, but it disconnects adding a package from the code that needs it. @github does a good job of hiding all of that from the larger diff.

A good heuristic for PRs is the balance of additions to subtractions. I prefer PRs that either heavily add functionality, (additions), or remove functionality, (subtractions). When PRs fall in the middle having + & -, they are often changing behavior in hard to understand ways.

Thank you, @MSEdgeDev, for allowing me to turn off the hold to quit from Chrome.

Colocate those PHP unit tests.
