TRANSFORMATIONAL! This is what fighting hunger and climate change looks like in #Niger. Thanks to @WFP's resilience projects, 500,000 people did NOT need emergency food assistance last year — a savings of $30 million. Strategic, effective humanitarian support!
It’s hard to learn when you’re hungry. When nutritious school meals are locally sourced it is an investment in children and local farmers. That’s why @WFP supports school feeding programs reaching 15 million children in 61 countries. Happy International #SchoolMealsDay!
Imagine the combined population of New York City, Los Angeles, Paris and Rome being without homes, electricity, food, water, or other essentials. That's exactly how this earthquake is impacting 18M people in #Turkiye and #Syria. Where's the news? Where have the headlines gone??
Standing at the epicenter here in Türkiye, where the scale of devastation I’m seeing is indescribable. 18 million people across the region have been impacted. As this catastrophe fades from news headlines, I’m here to remind the world that we cannot forget these people.
Since the quake, WFP has assisted over 650k ppl in non-government-controlled northwest Syria w/ emergency rations and/or monthly food baskets. We're scaling⬆️to assist all those in need, including 1.4 million ppl in northwest who received regular food assistance prior to quakes.
In Beletweyne, #Somalia, I met Xalimo. She had to leave her home because of drought & conflict. She told me it's unlikely she'll be able to return there soon and needs to make a new life for herself here. Meanwhile she receives cash from @WFP which helps keep her family alive.

What else is going to happen in the next 12 months? More conflicts, more natural disasters?? As I explained at @MunSecConf, if leaders roll back their support for global food security, we're going to pay 1000x more with starvation, destabilization & mass migration. #MSC2023
🚨Update: Another 20 trucks with @WFP food supplies crossed from Türkiye into non-government controlled areas in northwest #Syria. @kenn_crossley speaks about the importance of ensuring everybody in need, everywhere, can be reached in every possible way.

If we're serious about ending hunger, we need everyone to join us – and the private sector has got to be front & center. Businesses can do well AND do good! Thanks, @NobelPeaceOslo & @NorskHydroASA for inviting me to discuss how we can work together for positive social change.
Grateful for the incredible collaboration and teamwork from the many companies, foundations & private sector partners working with @WFP to respond to this unprecedented hunger crisis. Thank you all for helping to make a difference in the lives of millions!
A historic contribution at a historic moment! Our sisters & brothers at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have just made an extraordinary contribution to @WFP's work. Thank you, @Ch_JesusChrist for stepping up to save lives during this unprecedented hunger crisis.
