It's really quite damning that @tes promoted the harmful views of the SEND equivalent of RFK Jr, attracted huge criticism, and is now re-promoting the article because... it got a lot of clicks. Lower than a snake's belly.
In one of our most-read articles this week, child and adolescent psychiatrist @stimimi argues that SEND labels 'are descriptions (and often quite vague ones) that have been turned into commercial brands' tes.com/magazine/teach…

@_Chris_Coghlan wrote to the Education & Local Government Select Committee Chairs, Helen Hayes and Florence Eshalomi sharing 650+ family testimonies of unlawful, harmful or unethical behaviour by 117 LAs across the country. At worst these behaviours cost children their lives. 💔
Thank you @_Chris_Coghlan for amplifying why we MUST #SaveOurChildrensRights Let’s get those testimonies up to 1000 this weekend. See the post for the testimony link⬇️⬇️
Today, covered by ITV national news, I have written to the Education & Local Government Select Committee Chairs, @helenhayes_ and @FloEshalomi with over 650 family testimonies of unlawful, harmful or unethical behaviour on SEND by 117 local authorities across the country. 1/3
Scrapping Motability is going to reduce both the number of Disabled People in work and reduce the number of cars sold. The result is this policy will almost certainly COST more than it will save.
Study calls for Department for Education to produce a “clearly articulated vision for parental engagement”, which could be used to ensure a coherent approach across policies. Well there’s an idea, eh @Georgia Gould - MP for Queen's Park and Maida Vale bera-journals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.10…
Only 14% of teachers have had more than half a day’s autism training - yet neurodivergent pupils are twice as likely to be excluded. That’s not inclusion. Sign the petition for mandatory training for all education staff before it closes on 29th Oct! ⏰ petition.parliament.uk/petitions/7244…
The system is adversarial but not because of the legislation itself but because there is a lack of LA accountability and effective funding #SENDCrisis #SENDNationalScandal #SaveOurChildrensRights
Chair @helenhayes_ spoke in the House of Commons on our Solving the SEND Crisis report. The Chair stressed that the crisis in special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) is "not just a challenge, it's a moral imperative."

🧵 Apparently inspired by RFK Jr's anti-vax MAHA campaign, European quacks and conspiracy theorists are launching their own "Make Europe Healthy Again" group today, hosted by the (far) right wing Patriots for Europe Foundation at the EU Parliament. Here's who's who...
If the default position of public bodies is not to support children with SEND unless their families enforce the law, that will create disadvantage for families who aren’t in a position to do this. The answer? Zero tolerance for public bodies that disregard their legal duties.
🚨 NEW: Children from low-income homes are more likely to have special educational needs and are also less likely to get the support they need, we have found. Our new research reveals massive socio-economic inequalities in accessing support from a SEND system in crisis 🧵⤵️
CHENEY, Wash. - A former student from Cheney School District has settled a lawsuit for $258,000 over alleged misuse of restraint and isolation practices. The student claims these practices caused severe emotional and psychological harm. khq.com/news/250k-sett… #AgainstRestraint
Why assume that the parents in this article are SEND parents because the children mentioned have a taxi or mobility car on the drive? Taxis are for any children having to travel over a certain distance. Motobility cars are not necessarily cause of a child archive.is/tRW6Z

The vast majority of children permanently excluded from primary school have Special Educational Needs. Let’s change that. Let’s invest in them; not only the right thing to do - the only wise thing to do - because every child either becomes a contributor or a cost to the economy.
