Cluster Servants in Ilolo TZ recently held a seminar on organic farming, seasonal tree planting & the carbon market. Farmers benefit from a 70% Profit Share on the carbon credits their trees generate, as well as the many benefits the trees themselves provide! #ouransweristrees

TIST Farmers grow trees that absorb CO2. Each ton of carbon that trees absorb is turned into a "carbon credit." These credits represent the reduction of one ton of CO2 from the atmosphere. Farmers receive 70% Profit Share from the sale of credits on the voluntary carbon market!
The Atebwo Cluster in Kenya met recently to receive their second Profit Share payment vouchers with 21 women and 15 men present! Topics covered at the Cluster Meeting were how Profit Share works, the co-benefits of TIST and the importance of proper tree spacing. @tistprogram
In preparation for the next planting season 2024 & to kick off the planting of additional mixed groves these TIST Farmers in Uganda have started to raise seedlings early in their nursery! They are targeting at least 10 indigenous trees species, including fruit trees.
