Next project, early 17th century mandilion. A type of over garment that opened on the sides, often defined by its loose fit.
As a fun little one day project I made a very simple blackwork coif. It’s completely hand stitched with linen and silk thread on a fine linen. I’m excited to wear this. :D
I finished up my early 17th century petticoat and hiproll. The petticoat is made of a medium weight wool and has a yellow guard pieced of scrap wool I had on hand. The waist ties together with wool tape sewn into the waistband. The hip roll is linen stuffed with wool batting.

Oops, missed day 18 of #Museum30, which was #textile. My go-to has to be the @DublinDeadZoo cloth-of-gold gloves. An unusual and rare textile made from the beard of the Pinna mussel.
