We may start our journey as seekers, but before our story here on this earth ends, we are meant to become overjoyed believers. The wise men worshiped Jesus, honoring God with how they use their gifts so that the world may be blessed by these gifts. If we are wise, we will too.
By changing the way we think about dying, we may very well change the way we think about living. Death and birth are simply different stations of the same journey of birth after birth and life after life we are all meant to discover and experience. toledodeacon.com/?p=1283
If ever there is a conflict between what God wants us to do and what those closest to us want us to do, we must have a preference for pursuing what God wants us to do.
The only limits to Jesus’ love and mercy are the limits we place on it. Read "A Space" Homily at: toledodeacon.com/?p=1260
We are a victorious Easter people who are simply having a Lenten experience. toledodeacon.com/?p=1251
Sometimes, Jesus only blesses us to the extent we allow him to bless us. If we only halfway do something, maybe we only experience half of his blessings. When we fully do what Jesus wants us to do, that’s when we fully experience the blessings Jesus wants us to experience.
Jesus picks us lost sheep up on his shoulders with a smile on his face and says to us, “no matter how little you are, no matter how many times you’ve turned your back on me and walked away from me, no matter how long gone you are, I won’t give up on you.” ccup.org/sermons/losing…
Jesus comes here today, picks us lost sheep up on his shoulders with a smile on his face and says to us, "no matter how little you are, no matter how many times you’ve turned your back on me and walked away from me, no matter how long gone you are, I won’t give up on you."
How we spend our Advent will determine whether we celebrate Christmas as just a holiday or if we celebrate Christmas as a holy day.
“As the number of older people increases, keeping pace with the rise of life expectancy, it will become more and more important to promote a widespread attitude of acceptance and appreciation of the elderly.” Letter of His Holiness St. Pope John Paul II to the Elderly
The rich young man shows us what not to do. He made two critical mistakes that cost him dearly and I believe he wants us to learn from his mistakes, so we don’t make the same mistakes. 1. Put God first. 2. Have but do not to hold. toledodeacon.com/?p=1203
May we be like Jairus by focusing on being grateful for all Jesus has done for us, enjoying being in his presence, caring about what Jesus is asking of us, and by doing so maybe we’ll let our loved one get a little more sleep. Be Like Jairus Homily: toledodeacon.com/?p=1181
Too many of us have allowed our politics to become our religion. Ultimately, the Devil doesn’t really care if we are worshipping the donkey or the elephant as long as we aren’t worshipping the Lamb. The Lamb of God has already won eternal salvation for each and every person.
As we too gather days after the eclipse, perhaps struggling to recognize how Jesus is walking and talking with us on our journeys, we too can ask Jesus to enter under our roof. May our eyes be opened to recognize Jesus, believe, and become witnesses. toledodeacon.com/?p=1165
I was planning to pop the question. I had the ring.I was going to take her on a hot air balloon ride and as we rose up into the sky, two people would come out of the woods holding a banner reading “Will you marry me?” as I got down on one knee. Man makes plans, God laughs.
By Jesus staying inside us and Jesus staying in the Father’s bosom, we too can hear the Father’s heartbeat and hear every word that pours forth from the mouth of God. toledodeacon.com/?p=1146
The hiding from God that began in the Garden of Eden continues still today with many of us sinners hiding behind our screens and our phones from God. toledodeacon.com/?p=1138
If we were to ask Jesus, how do you know when you have found the one you want to spend the rest of your life with, I think he would respond like this: “when I see the one who is prepared to spend the rest of their life with me.”
