The East African Community is not abnormal. It is these borders that are artificial. Confederation into the EAC is something that will unite families separated by a simple decision made by strangers 10,000 miles away in 1884 in Berlin Germany.

My mother's family was a close-knit family that was forced by unforeseen circumstances to grow up on both sides of the Uganda/Kenya border. On reflection, being separated by international boundaries doesn't really matter. Ours is a good example. We are connected by Blood.

Time changes so many things. Uncle Sezi visited us often and stayed for weeks. He cooked for us, washed our clothes, and played with us. When he got married, we were both happy and sad because we would never have him just to ourselves again, perhaps forever.

We grew up admiring these uncles. They had beautiful families. Uncle James was my mother's best friend and confidant. When I was just seven, he was the one who stopped my mum from running away and abandoning us when my dad was murdered by agents of Idi Amin in 1977.

Burials are slated for Thursday (Bumbo Uganda) and Saturday (Busia Kenya) next week, respectively My late mother follows James Masawi (Ruth's husband), and Sezi Khaukha (Theresa's hubby) was my mother's immediate follower.

Thursday, 6th February 2025, was a huge awakening. I lost two aunties on the same day. They were elderly widows of my late maternal uncles. Aunty Thereza Khaukha (rip) died in Bumbo Uganda of a heart attack, and Ruth Nafula Masawi died of diabetes in Busia Kenya.

Well, at least I’m in Champions league next season, I have a new manager, & Mo Salah is staying.
