OK Twitter, I need to talk to you about the harmful version of conversion therapy I went through a teen - something called 'desistence therapy', which was basically gaslighting of a young teen into not only not transitioning but believing that not transitioning was their idea.
I'm honestly super tired of repeating myself on this front but equally I'm tired of having my own direct experience as a trans teen, now an older trans adult, utterly dismissed in favor of frothing moral panic.
The actual experiences of trans people are being routinely and ignored in this "debate" and it's infuriating. I was a young teen at the time this was done to me, I'm now in my late 30s and it still traumatises me in contrast to the "they'll grow out of it" claim papers are making

I learned that puberty blockers were not routinely prescribed & were considered an experimental treatment. This was confirmed to MSPs in evidence to the committee considering GRR legislation. On average just seven young people progressed to puberty blockers per year.
A wee thread about Cass and what it says about the current state of Scottish politics. As a councillor & member of the IJB I visited Sandyford to learn about the services provided there (not just gender services). I had various questions which were answered by officials.

Very bad news if true. The Cass Review teport has inherent methodological flaws and contradictions and has been heavily criticised, although good luck knowing this if you don't go looking. Isn't there supposed to be some debate in these matters? ruthpearce.net/2024/04/16/wha…
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde told service users that blockers and hormones won't be prescribed unless they are part of a clinical trial. No clinical trial is planned. Young cis people with precocious puberty will still have access to hormone blockers. This is discrimination.
