👇🏽 resonates on so many levels - the struggle is real - as a racialized educator when do you speak up, where is it appropriate & what will the fall out be??? Are you labeled a troublemaker or changemaker? -waiting for everyone else’s readiness feels unsafe & stifling

It may sound fluffy or cliche but if we are truly working toward equity, we must visualize and believe in a future of possibility. This work isn’t about fixing deficits. Its about honoring, rectifying, and ultimately, cultivating the unique gifts and talents that we all possess.

Reminder on National Indigenous Languages Day that the federal government is responsible for damaging and erasing Indigenous languages in Canada, so it should be obligated to fully fund fluency restoration everywhere. "Reconciliation" means little when languages are dying.

For the entire month of February, I’m dedicating my Instagram page to Black Canadian authors. I’ll post here as well. I’m not doing #BHM events or panels this month, with one exception, but I’m committed to supporting my fellow #BlackCanLit authors. #28DaysofBlackCanLit

A great learning experience changes you. It does something to your spirit, not just your mind. It touches you, uplifts you, brings you into beloved community. It helps you find your voice. Think of how many such experiences we can create if we let go of antiquated ideas of data.

Today is that day where a corporation gets their name tweeted and repeated in the name of something really important, and while the message was, at one point, worthwhile, the focus now needs to shift. Talking about mental health and mental illness is no longer enough...a 🧵

This is an excellent statement and other #OntEd boards should take note. Especially those that find themselves targeted by groups motivated by hate.

Yesterday I was part of a group that peacefully protested the expansion of a coal mine in Germany. We were kettled by police and then detained but were let go later that evening. Climate protection is not a crime. #LuetziBleibt #LuetziLebt #KeepItInTheGround #ClimateJustice
