With all the drama surrounding the Broadway Plan, here's a reminder of what is being built (in this case, restored), literally on the other side of the Plan boundary at West 16th, under existing FSHCA zoning: - 4,400 SF single-family mansion w/pool - 12,000 SF lot - 0.37 FSR

Hey fellow struggling renters, what do *you* think about higher property taxes on the multimillionaire landowner class that could, y'know, fund more below-market rental/social housing projects?

Wow! @steeletalk As a City Councillor + the Chair of Standing Committee on Finance & Service- that is the OPPOSITE of what I’m hearing from residents, homeowners and renters in #Vancouver #vanpoli

The charitable status of organizations that perform conversion therapy should be pulled by @CanRevAgency, and Canada (and the provinces) should ban the practice. #cdnpoli #canpoli #bcpoli #AbLeg #bcndp #ndp youtube.com/watch?v=r7aC85…

A nail-biter in Vancouver. Lord, let basement suites not be Vancouver’s prime affordable housing initiative this term! #vanpoli

A reminder of how your #vanpoli vote matters. Out of 120,000+ ballots in the last several elections, here's the margin of victory for the final spot on City Council: 2014: 512 votes 2011: 90 votes 2008: 1023 votes 2005: 1617 votes 2002: 504 votes

Just sitting here, dreaming of all the free time I’m going to enjoy after the #vanelxn18 when I don’t have to spend so much time everyday keeping up with all the #vanpoli drama. ✨😄💭

I wish this would actually change some political discourse within Canada and in particular the Conservative party and other parties who don’t support climate change solutions. #canpoli

Laureate William Nordhaus’ research shows that the most efficient remedy for problems caused by greenhouse gas emissions is a global scheme of carbon taxes uniformly imposed on all countries. The diagram shows CO2 emissions for four climate policies according to his simulations.

I think that maybe some ppl would change their minds about who they are voting for if everyone was a) forced to watch at least 5 previous city council meetings and b) it was mandatory to watch 10 per year. #vanpoli #vanelxn #vanelxn18

friends: the @WaiYoung parody campaign is planning a protest at the Adanac Overpass on Monday October 1st at 5pm, to advocate for Car Rights, and I presume, to make Vancouver Great Again! At that time, it would be nice to bike by and politely thank these jokers for the laugh.

This is insane. The summer of smoke is clearing up and the severity of it brings important focus and attention to decades of the provincial government putting the heavily subsidized lumber industry ahead of policies that were needed to implement proper fuel management.

BC Wildfires in 2017 and 2018 have burned more area than the previous 25 years. Approximately 4% of the forested area of BC has burned in the last 2 fire seasons.

Perhaps our whole economic model is wrong and the only choices shouldn’t be communist or neoliberal. Can’t we dream bigger as a species? #canpoli #globalpoli

Thank you @CityOfVictoria for being brave and taking a small step towards #reconciliation. There is a big difference between remembering our history and idolizing it. We need more changes like this and bolder steps. #canpoli #cdnpoli #BCpoli @fordnation

Helps: "Reconciliation, from the perspective of settlers, is going to be feel very disruptive. It requires in some ways an unsettling of our own comfort zones, and the symbols and figures we’re comfortable with. It’s not an easy process."
