I bought three #3dfx V3 3500 cards on eBay. One “tested, working, mint” and two “untested, as-is”. Guess which one is broken 😂 Amazingly, the two as-is cards work perfectly. I figured I’d have to repair one or both.. not the “working” one 🔨

So this Voodoo2 with one pin missing on the FBI and several random ones crushed and touching each other was stuck on eBay for 3 weeks. So I decided to help it.🤷♂️ Straightened all crooked pins and soldered the missing leg back with a wire. And it started working right away.🤪
I’m very curious if adding SMD caps to the unpopulated pads at the rear of a V3 would improve power delivery/overclocking 🤔 Anyone ever seen this done or could suggest appropriate value range to try here? I’m coming up empty in my searches ⚡️

MHz Display Blaster: A 7-segment frequency display clone
Looking into modern GPUs to upgrade my gaming rig and just baffled at the current state of the market. What the heck happened here? My RTX 2070 Super from 4 years ago seems not all that far behind most modern mid-range cards. Would need to spend >$1K for substantial gains 😕

Repurposed a chipset heatsink from a decommissioned server for a 486 heatsink with a 3d printed bracket.
now THIS is a cursed repair. the intact legs are as straight as I can get them without breaking them. I've repaired 3 legs so far and have 4 more to go (one of the pins exposed is not connected.) hope I can fix this!
