Very quiet on Chinese state media. Not only that, Pres. Trump 100% tariff threat was not reported much. Must have guidance on NOT to further add unintended sentiment.



I am curious about this idea that Beijing is surprised. This implies they expected Trump to just take it sitting. But why would Beijing think that? Because they thought this wasn’t a big deal? Or because they thought it was such a trump card that the US would have no choice


but to submit? But even if the latter, why would they expect Trump of all people to surrender *immediately without even a gesture of a fight*?
