Turning 26 today🎈, so here's a long overdue update of my favorite albums of all time, 1 per artist
It's actually pretty damn bold because Otomo's album has very little formal similarities to Dolphy's, he's just saying "I'm making the equivalent Out To Lunch for the current era of jazz" and he actually pulls it off somehow
RIP Tatsuya Nakadai (1932 - 2025) Thank you for the masterclasses you put on for Cinema.
I genuinely think AI video should be illegal. The most obviously societally corroding invention maybe ever created. Just an instant tool of widespread distrust and mass psychosis.
I love seeing this album succeed and get all the praise it deserves but people need to stop acting like this is her only incredible project when she has one of the best 4 album runs in hip hop
Little Simz - Sometimes I Might Be Introvert - 250m Spotify Streams! Is it still in your rotation? Future classic album
Pino Palladino recording the bass for D'Angelo's "Sugah Daddy"
Lahai turns 2 today.. thank you to all of you who have taken the time to listen and join me on the journey. Got one last song to share from that season, sign up to my mailing list for a preview: sampha.com
all the beats on common’s Be album are elite status
If this is actually his account, seeing Astral Weeks here is awesome makes a ton of sense the vocal style, sporadic songwriting, and gentle melodies on Heavy Metal feel exactly like Astral Weeks, even after my first listen of Rolling Stones I could feel the resemblance there
one of the coolest things about d'angelo was when he retired from music after voodoo he taught himself to become an incredibly good guitar player over the course of a decade, the evidence of which is all over black messiah. "when it's done" has one of my favorite guitar outros
D’Angelo on guitar, in the zone — talking music and playing P-Funk song
D’angelo one of those artists that was borderline unsettling how his music transcended what even felt like was possible for a human being to create I just sit there listening like what the fuck is even coming out of the speakers rn this cant just be air pressure
RIP D'Angelo, the undisputed king of neo-soul. One of the most sensationally gifted musicians of all time who gave us some wonderfully timeless, defining music of his generation. Can't believe this legend is no longer with us🕊🖤
Wow, this is absolutely devastating news, RIP D'Angelo This man reinvented himself and the entire landscape of soul music in three different decades, creating seismic impact that continues to be felt today
various musicks i love ^_^ lmk what your faves are

Finally checked out both of these Janet albums this week, glad to report they're both as awesome as advertised! Her vocals and production are consistently incredible, and I admire how much they aim to inspire change and improvement in the world, and crucially, for Janet herself
AI uses up all our water. Increases energy costs. Makes us dumber. Allows corporations to obliterate jobs. Further obfuscates reality when we need the truth more than ever. But yeah keep asking it to write your little emails because you’re too lazy
Meta, OpenAI, and Oracle have collectively announced plans to spend more than $1 trillion on data centers in the next several years.
Ive seen plenty of takes about both these albums "falling off" in their second halves, but for me they're still pretty damn excellent Especially on full moon, some of those melodies on tracks like Nothing, He Is, and Wow are breathtaking
Yes, plenty in fact - I made a whole list of them Sadly these albums don't really do a lot for me even though I enjoy many of these artists (and others like them) I've heard all of these more than once, but it's been years in some cases...maybe relistens would help 🤔
anybody have an album that seems, on paper, like it should absolutely be the sort of thing you're into, like it's everything you want on music, but inexplicably you can never really get into? for me it's probably this one
