Today Germans live the consequence of yesterday's bad energy policy Germany could have had the EU's 8th cleanest electricity mix; instead it closed its nuclear power plants and has one of Europe's dirtiest grids

Well this is the day I've been awaiting a long time! The deal is signed to move forward on GO Rail Expansion and Electrification. It's a pretty high-powered consortium. Who better than Deutsche Bahn to bring S-Bahn to North America? infrastructureontario.ca/Partner-Select…

I'm in @TheAtlantic, explaining why the USA must stop assuming that human error alone causes virtually all car crashes. The idea is both misleading and destructive. And the federal government -- esp @NHTSAgov -- is largely to blame for its spread. theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/…

The current wildly inadequate penalties for violently taking a life through negligent operation of a motor vehicle amplify harm of #RoadViolence in ways impossible to imagine before it is inflicted on you. This is why we fight for #Bill62, the Vulnerable Road User Law. #VRULaw

And, in Toronto, 3 years in daycare costs more than a 4 year Arts & Science degree at Canada’s best universities. But you didn’t spend 18 years saving for it in an RESP or get offered “daycare” loans with low interest and a reasonable payback period.

Getting your kid into a good daycare is harder than getting them into a good college

Indeed. Not only do we inconvenience thousands of people so a few people can park on roadways; we also charge them VASTLY under market value for the privilege. When I am mayor, I will obliterate street parking.

Have you seen the price of those Parking spots in the map vs the street meter parking?

Allowing townhouses in the suburbs is a million times more kid-friendly than mandating amenity spaces and 3BR apartments in downtown high-rises

TTC has its share of problems, but people in a lot of cities would give their eye-teeth to get its subway headways
