The key words of Holy Week are these: “For you” Jesus for you. Forgiveness for you. Freedom from sin accomplished by Jesus for you. Death and resurrection for you so that you may live eternally.
It saddens me to see things like this. Evangelical understandings of salvation caused me to doubt and fear for my eternity. Baptismal regeneration is a wonderful and gracious doctrine because it gives the doubtful sinner peace that rests upon Christ, not himself. (Mark 16:16)
In the New Testament… Baptism FOLLOWS repentance and faith. It doesn’t precede it. It’s called “Believer’s Baptism”, because you should be a believer BEFORE you are baptized.

Hot take: both of these are true and healthy reactions to sin for the Christian. Our sin should cause us to fear and seek repentance, and by grace the Gospel gives us the assurance of forgiveness.
What an incredible reassurance it is to know that I am redeemed.
Is God cutting off the branch or just pruning it?
