I don't normally comment on the news of the day, but the shooting of Charlie Kirk is so wicked and so grievous. It's sad to see my own kids affected. Like many Gen Zers, they love his videos. I'm grateful for the many times he clearly and cheerfully made much of Jesus Christ. If…

Noticed an emphasis shift toward therapeutic language in church? Me, too. Esp in our songs. Jesus rescues us from more than fear, doubt, sorrow, and shame - negative emotions associated w/sin. He rescues us from sin itself - its penalty, its power, and ultimately its presence.

"Because of an emphasis shift, the way we talk about what salvation does for us leans heavily toward the therapeutic now." - @jenniferwilkin 🎧 Listen to the latest episode of Knowing Faith, "Has Therapeutic Language Invaded the Church?" wherever you find podcasts.

I think an easy way to show that the Bible teaches penal substitutionary atonement is with three simple observations: 1. Throughout the Bible, death is a penalty for sin 2. Jesus died but was sinless, therefore… 3. Jesus’ death was a punishment for someone else’s sin (ours)

Why do I preach the gospel every week? To Convict: All need to hear of the wages of sin. To Invite: Some are hearing it for the first time. To Remind: Most need to be reminded of it every week. To Assure: Some may be hearing the glories of the gospel for the last time.

“A Lion of the Pulpit, Now in Christ’s Presence: The Relentless Expository Passion of John F. MacArthur, Jr., 1939-2025. This essay honors John MacArthur as a great gift to Christ’s church — and to me. To God be the glory. wng.org/opinions/a-lio…

MacArthur’s legacy of faithful expository preaching as he served the local church has been deeply formative for so many, including myself. Grateful for his impact and legacy.

Our hearts are heavy, yet rejoicing, as we share the news that our beloved pastor and teacher John MacArthur has entered into the presence of the Savior. This evening, his faith became sight. He faithfully endured until his race was run. 2 Timothy 4:1-8

This is a great thread full of wisdom.

Some disappointing news out of Colorado this week. A bill on the Governor's desk seeks to: Consider deadnaming and misgendering coercive control. Strip parents of their parental rights. Define deadnaming and misgendering as discriminatory acts.

Andor is incredible. That was so, so good. Some of the best Star Wars ever made.
