You can not claim to care about children and not value and support those who spend the most time with the largest number of children: teachers. You can’t claim to care about communities and not invest in what is at the center of the community: its schools.
Tier 1 is more than core instruction. Tier 1 also includes the environment in which instruction occurs, the quality of relationships, and access to experiences that connect students to and empower them as valued members of the school.
Administrators! If you have teachers you know struggle to teach, you should be in their rooms often. NOT as a punishment or for evaluation! Co-teach! Learn the content! Figure out what’s going wrong and what’s going right and become a member of the classroom community.
