Let’s just get this out here early: just because a team has success in the tournament (or even wins one play in game) this does not mean they ultimately deserved a bid.
I love the mountain west. I know it’s a very weak bubble this year, but the Boise St at large case is unfathomable. 10 losses. 3 times to a “not good enough for at large” CSU team. Beat Clemson? Cool, lost to BC. I don’t get it. Once again, the metrics suck.
The way bracketology is these days: Boise lost to a quality team at home, a game they are supposed to win. That cements their spot in the field. CSU? This win further moves them on the wrong side of the bubble, because metrics (they beat a team that lost to them so…. bad)
There are two ways to look at this: 1) Gonzaga with another quality Quad 1A loss. This solidifies their spot in the tournament. Well done, much deserved! 2) coming back to the real world-has Gonzaga beaten a single tournament team? How are they even in consideration for a spot
