Congrats to the @snapcalorie team on the $2M round! SnapCalorie (YC S21) lets you can take a photo of any meal and get an accurate calorie count. It takes seconds to use and is more accurate than a trained nutritionist. techcrunch.com/2023/06/26/sna…

Thanks @ycombinator . We're honored to have amazing investors like you and be able to focus on building things people want when it comes to improving their diet and nutrition!

Someone actually made Shazam for food lmao

@GOQii has built an ecosystem around this for years; with the billions of data points they’d be sitting on today, I assume they can pretty much “recommend what to eat acc to body type etc” .. @vishalgondal @garrytan

I have been waiting for something like this

Missed an opportunity to name it “see food”

@burgerking_es will love this feature! 🤣

What if I told you there is an app in the market...

It's Shazam for food.

Whose nephew lost all that weight and started this cute start up?

They did it!

Can't work on Indian food. I can show you chicken curry with 500 & 1000 calories. Both look the same

This won't work accurately outside the US. Most definitely not in Asia.

Make the OCR into api please. Image to text. Please 🥹?

Not a hotdog 🌭😂

This is a brilliant idea. Love it👏

Being able to speculate exactly what the product is from the name bodes well for consumer software

Does this work for Indian meals is yet to be tested!

thats octopus: the recipe app, built by young jonathan!

great… finally shazam for food!

The app says - “Use your phone to take a picture of any meal and a real live nutrition expert will label your food plate for you” Not ai. A “real live expert”

The UX/UI is not what I expected

Mirav_V's tweet image. The UX/UI is not what I expected

“What if I told you there is an app in the market” first thing that came into my mind

Congrats @snapcalorie this is awesome 👏

I would love to know if this works for day to day, home cooked Indian food.

Lol this one is a real mystery

WesleyYue's tweet image. Lol this one is a real mystery

Interesting. Ive been looking for a product like this to track macros. Will check it out

12 years old in App Store 1 star review

NOT HOTDOG

can you address these concerns?

still skeptical—oils and hidden emulsions are calorically dense and are usually occluded from view a lidar sensor makes no difference here. you need high-res hyperspectral and even then I doubt it works for many foods

No, it's an Octopus app

Does camara quality matters in the process...?
