YC W25's @makewithadam is building an AI Co-pilot for CAD Design. Their state-of-the-art Text-to-CAD helps engineers 10x their CAD workflows with simple AI prompts. ycombinator.com/launches/MfX-a… Congrats on the launch, @zachdive, @aaronhetengli, and @avimakesrobots!

Introducing Adam: The Future of CAD

I need a high bypass turbo fan jet engine sized for standard cargo airlines running on flex fuel with standard PW or RR part replacement specifications. Please include all control and fuel connections required with a basic mounting pilon. 🤣🤣 Waiting. Also be ready for a…

What is with the absolute graveyard of CAD disruptors? Text to CAD? 🤮 why?

Seems like bullshit to me.

This is amazing. If I can piecemeal produce parts that I can edit together in conventional cad that’ll be amazing. 100x more useful if it can produce solidworks, onshape or fusion native models.

👍👍👏 I was just talking about this, theoretically, in the context of 3D printing. Text-to-physical-object.

Very cool tech to streamline a process that many find very difficult. They have the imagination but translating it to an image is different.

Great, you've just shown that you don't understand what mechanical engineering is

This looks useful for normies that just want stuff. It can do common tasks. It can probably add an interface for a 38999 connector or a power switch or something. It can turn my 30 min basic, simple cad job into a 10 min cad edit job.

I cannot imagine any legitimate mechanical engineer using this for technical design. Looks very cool for small projects, though.

I hate this with every fiber of my Being

Can I short it?

Does YC help with creating ads like this?

If it outputs a parametrically designed model with correctly ordered constraints this would be massive. If it is just outputting a mesh it's a waste of time.

Adam's text-to-CAD editor is a beast . Finally, a tool that understands I don't want to spend hours on tedious design workflows.

I’ve been waiting for this!!

This is a game changer

Fold in @MSFTResearch MatterGen and yall can build a warpdrive starship tomorrow.

And this is why we built our 3d printing API. Users of the app could just say order part now and have the printed part in a few days

This will make great products. Definitely. Especially in very tight tolerance assemblies.

YC doesn't know what it's talking about

You’ve just automated a drafting job. Now try engineering-

your LPs deserve to lose everything for this one

Can someone explain why this is ridiculous in software engineering terms?

Pls include suggestions for exact parts and quantities for the components that can’t be built so people can build things as fast as possible! The next step!

How do I short this?

Imagine what an AGI will be able to perfom on CAD 💀

no geometric kernel, no IR? @j_d_noone @yacineMTB instead of at each other's throat you should co-roast this instead
