It is hard to stay a democracy when all forms of public service, large and small, come with threats of violence. The threat of political violence takes normal people out of public life, which puts you on a very fast track to the end of democracy at a very practical level.
I can’t believe we’re still talking about this, but my emails… As Trump’s problems continue to mount, the right is trying to make this about me again. There’s even a “Clinton Standard." The fact is that I had zero emails that were classified.
Someone (not in education) was surprised to hear that teachers have to set up their own classrooms. She thought we had someone to do that for us and we just walk in the first day and start teaching. I had to explain it takes days of prep + physical labor. And we don’t get paid.
