Simulating human behavior at scale could accelerate how we test social science hypotheses. Check out our paper with data, models, and findings📈 Chat with @KolluriAkaash at EMNLP to learn more!

New EMNLP main paper: “Finetuning LLMs for Human Behavior Prediction in Social Science Experiments” We built SocSci210—2.9M human responses from 210 social science experiments. Finetuning Qwen2.5-14B on SocSci210 beats its base model by 26% & GPT-4o by 13% on unseen studies.🧵

Behavioral Foundation Models (BFMs) trained with RL are secretly more powerful than we think. BFM’s directly output a policy believed to be near-optimal given any reward function. Our new work shows that they can actually do much better:

Problem: AIs can detect when they are being tested and fake good behavior. Can we suppress the “I’m being tested” concept & make them act normally? Yes! In a new paper, we show that subtracting this concept vector can elicit real-world behavior even when normal prompting fails.

I define "behavior" as (1) a type of person, (2) doing an action, (3) in a specific context/environment.

Using role-play simulations enabled a neurodivergent student to move from classroom theory to real-world practicum success — highlighting that when educational settings mirror the unpredictable nature of work, marginalized learners can thrive. buff.ly/TKJDzxi

Behavioural Mirroring: when one person subconsciously imitates the; gesture, speech, pattern, or attitude of another. Establishes a relationship of empathy and an understanding of another's emotions.

Welp, i tried to put my Bambi in Psych engine just to see how his animations would work in game. I even added an animation for him smashing his phone lol (also i used applecore as placeholder music bcs idk) Do you think this looks good? #fridaynightfunkin #daveandbambi

Using our brain simulator, we’ve trained a reinforcement learning agent to maximize bits per second. Here is the RL policy converting brain data to cursor control in simulation:
