.@_cweedbrook, very astutely, notes that he's "already abandoned one country" so isn't willing to leave Canada "yet." However, he must travel the world to build relationships for @XanaduAI fundraising, despite Canada having 2 of the world's largest pension funds. #BetaKitTalks

On how to handle staffing changes, @rkhazzam is direct: trying to avoid decisions that spook talent is “a cowardly way to run a company.” @_cweedbrook noted a need to match to fit to culture. “Each company is like its own country” with different sets of laws. #BetaKitTalks

Whole panel noted a market-wide push to do more with less staff. #BetaKitTalks @rkhazzam: Float aimed for net lower headcount while doubling revenue. @HannaFZaidi: "a change in attitude" around hiring is the "reality of the market right now."

Zaidi dropped a six-point plan (!) on how @Wealthsimple turned headwinds into tailwinds. Won't list them all (you have to attend #BetaKitTalks!), but she noted work to diversify away from transactional-based revenue. “We negotiated the shit out of every agreement with banks.”

To do that, @floatcard "changed our product roadmap.” Focus changed from making it easy for customers to spend money to helping them save time *and* money. #BetaKitTalks
