I don’t get how @edmnangagwa preaches that Zimbabwe is open for business yet if you put money there, you can not practically get it out coz of #bondnotes & #rtgs and it looses value like his reputation. Is he serious or it’s a deliberate #ploy to steal investors money.

The only explanation I can think of here is they’re trying to avoid the “Mangudya Effect” where they ended up having to print #BondNotes as cover for electronic USD created by USD loans created during GNU. Every USD loan creates electronic USD which we can’t support physically

In a normal country there would be a CommissionOfInquiry into the circumstances surrounding the claim by ReserveBank that #BondNotes were backed by an Afreximbank USD facility in the light of this statement by the new governor. Who still believes ZiG is backed by anything🤷♀️

Why was it necessary for RBZ to create #BondNotes & tell us it’s 1:1 to the USD? Bcoz they had electronic money created by banks via their lending which electronic money they couldn’t physically support via QE like would happen if they could print USD so they printed #BondNotes🙏
A dollarised economy creates ancillary problems that are difficult to surmount. Banks inter alia, create electronic money via credit creation. How do you do QE to back up the electronic money if you can’t print USD. This is the reason we ended up with #BondNotes.
