FLASHBACK - When @ChiPubSchools opened on August 30, 2021, we organized a #CPSSickOut to support families keeping their children home in protest. The district was in chaos with an interim leader, no COVID testing in place, and aggressively denying remote learning options. 🍎😷✊
It's a chronic absenteeism problem of their own creation. #CPSSickOut parents pleaded to @ChiPubSchools to restore remote learning for families who needed it. Instead CPS's highly restrictive virtual policy and limited criteria to get "flipped" to remote forced these absences. 😷
Going back to our #CPSSickOut protests, @ChiParentsAct demands that if @ChiPubSchools does end up going 'mask optional,' that CPS should also allow ANY CPS family a remote learning option for rest of year if they do not feel their child will be safe in an unmasked classroom. 🍎😷
