This is a really important (& ongoing) #ComedyTO thread re: comedy coverage in Toronto; the scarcity & gender inequality of it (which is why my signature series as a freelancer was female & eventually non-binary focussed), & the importance of promotion—both self, & professional.
Honestly @glennsumi and @nowtoronto this language is really disappointing and something women in comedy are constantly dealing with. Women aren’t aggressive enough? Not you didn’t do your due diligence and then published an article of “the best” and now refuse to take ownership?

#ComedyTO highlights: loved seeing @thefunnyRN & Mark Little back on stage regularly in '22; @ALVALcomedy levelled up this yr as a stand-up; more @okjonblair solo sketch & Uncle Mother (alum of @TonyHoComedy & @thesketchersons et al) shows in '23, pls—more sketch, in general. END
I'm going to list my 10 fav individual performances (the shows they were in would mostly correspond to my fav #TheaTO shows, anyway), followed by some Honourable Mentions (HMs), & a few #ComedyTO highlights. There were, of course, (too) many shows I missed.
Year-end #TheaTO thread (w/ some #ComedyTO mixed in). I saw 101 shows in 2022: 70 plays (incl. #FringeTO), 31 comedy&variety shows/concerts/screenings. Pre-COVID, that # would be 250+, but—my 1st show was late Feb; I spent 22 wks outta town, & was sick/quarantined for 3 wks. 1/
