Ralph Cox introducing complexity in the Radboud University summer course Complexity Methods for Behavioural Sciences. This is going to be a great week! #ComplexityMethods
THREAD 🧵 on my presentation at the #ComplexityMethods in Behavioural Sciences summer course. The backdrop is working in the intersection of science and society, where you rather prevent than treat.
Maarten Wijnants guest lecture on the #ComplexityMethods summer course. He had read Zipf's original book and apparently there are a bunch of laws nobody talks about, which perhaps got drown under the Zipf's law hype 😁
How to [practically] deal with complexity in behavioral science? Check out this nice summary by @FredHasselman #ComplexityMethods
Just wrapped up an awe-inspiring & seriously cool weeklong workshop on #complexitymethods led by @FredHasselman. Esp loved nerding out w/ @isaStallworthy & @A_R_Palmer while watching -- it's extra exciting when you learn new methods that align so well w/ developmental theory 🤓
Day 2 of #ComplexityMethods Radboud Summer School: learning about power laws in nature including cognition and these dynamics potentially implicate learning and behaviour
This week I was at my old university @Radboud_Uni to learn about #ComplexityMethods for behavioral science. If we consider people as complex systems who cannot be compared on averagarian statistics, we come closer to asking the right questions. Analyse then aggregate!
Last week I joined the #ComplexityMethods in Behavioural Sciences summer school at Radboud University. It took me the whole weekend to reflect on everything I have learned and I am still thinking about possible applications of these methods.
... I had a lot of other things to say but this thread is getting unwieldy and maybe I'll post about those things later. Or you can just see this paper for #ComplexityMethods spoilers:
New Paper: "Studying Behaviour Change Mechanisms under Complexity" from Dr. Hankonen, et al. @Heinonmatti @keeganknittle @Chris_Noone_ @FredHasselman @NHankonen @SocSciHelsinki @helsinkiuni @NUIMerrionSq @CogPT_lab @Radboud_Uni Find more details at: mdpi.com/2076-328X/11/5…
Feeling more confident applying #ComplexityMethods with the exercises and examples, grateful to have instructors to learn from and people to learn with after battling the complex (pun intended) literature myself for a year
The physical version in Nijmegen was awesome, a few slides in thread attached. #ComplexityMethods
Just when you thought the complexity methods for behavioral science wouldn't get more intense... #CMBS
My key takeaway from the first day of Radboud University #ComplexityMethods summer school: complexity produces simplicity when many many parts work together to produce behaviour as a whole
Ralph Cox introducing complexity in the Radboud University summer course Complexity Methods for Behavioural Sciences. This is going to be a great week! #ComplexityMethods
Complex problems, whether organisational, societal or global, often appear not only difficult but intractable, and seem not to have an effective solution. The main reason is the approach used is often inappropriate: bit.ly/3v8tsXL #ComplexityMethods #PlanetaryHealthLab
Who wouldn't want to join @snowded and @NoraBateson for the full show - maybe there be some condensed knowledge leaking along the path? #complexity #complexitymethods #SENSE #leadership
*NEW PROGRAMME* The #SensemakingSeries -Rooted in complexity, founded in exploring the uniqueness of being human & paradigm-breaking approaches to making sense of the world, bringing together the ideas of @snowded & @NoraBateson - Closing Fri 23rd July! 📅 ow.ly/JNW850FuRGi
