Love this piece of recently discovered #computinghistory. The final printout made in 1977 by the LEO 306 computer known as LEO III/43 used at HM Dockyard in Portsmouth. This was the day it was switched off for the last time. Who says computers aren't emotional?!! @LEOcomputers51

We were pleased to welcome Year 10 students from University College School @UCSCompSci yesterday. They experienced retro programming on 80s Micros, beccame computers to understand the FDE cycle and explored computing history in our main gallery. #STEM #computinghistory

#OTD in #ComputingHistory in 1956, IBM released the first manual for the programming language FORTRAN. The manual appeared six months before the compiler was ready, giving programmers time to learn and prepare for this milestone in computing. acm.org/education/otd-…

AI history started in 1950 as Turing created a test for a machine's ability to exhibit intelligent behavior. The term "AI" was coined by McCarthy in 1956. After a setback in the 70s, AI saw a resurgence in the 80s, and in the 90s, the AI revolution started 🚀 #ComputingHistory
