@vphill explained how we've been doing this here: vphill.com/journal/ #dlfaig Q4
We did not create new collections, since we already had many clean-up projects and a back-log of work in several departmental projects. #dlfaig Q2
Our awesome developers also prioritized an overhaul of our system events reporting when we went to remote work so that managers can all see who has been editing, and when, and how much, and which records. #dlfaig Q4
Again, not new projects. We always have a running list of things to fix -- and other things we know about that aren't on the list yet. We just used this opportunity to have our new editors help us work on clean-up projects. #dlfaig Q3
We tried to distribute management so that folks were still reporting up through departments or project managers. Mostly answering questions on Teams for telework students and managers, attending weekly check-in meetings for those folks. #dlfaig Q4
The #DLFaig Metadata Assessment Working Group will be kicking off 2023 on March 9 at 1:15 ET/10:15 PT. New members are always welcome! More info at wiki.diglib.org/Assessment:Met… #critlib #mashcat
We added about 100 new editors to our system to work on metadata remotely. #dlfaig Q1
This has the added benefit of not necessarily requiring as much training or expertise, since many editors are just fixing 1 field value to align with formatting requirements. #dlfaig Q3
The #DLFaig Metadata Assessment Working Group will be kicking off the new year on January 21 at 1:15 ET. New members are always welcome! More info at wiki.diglib.org/Assessment:Met… #critlib #mashcat
We used existing projects, but new text documentation, outlining what needs to be done, especially easy projects for less-experienced metadata folks. Also, new folks really wanted video tutorials, so I recorded examples on zoom. #dlfaig Q1
Yes, we actually have several tools in our system. One uses Open Refine algorithms to cluster values that may be the same. Records still have to be edited one-by-one when problems are identified, though. #dlfaig
The #DLFaig Metadata Assessment Working Group will be kicking off 2022 on March 17 at 1:15 ET/10:15 PT. New members are always welcome! More info at wiki.diglib.org/Assessment:Met… #critlib #mashcat
One last call: if you missed the first #DLFaig Metadata Assessment Working Group meeting, we are finalizing the 2022 work plan Thursday, March 31 at 1:15 ET/10:15 PT. New members are always welcome! More info at wiki.diglib.org/Assessment:Met… #critlib #mashcat
When we did quick polls among the remote students, that was the one thing they consistently wanted. #dlfaig Q1
Most people only had access to specific collections, but yes. We have built-in quality tools to help identify problems, which makes it a little easier to set people loose to create /some/ access and fix problems later. There are definitely issues to address now. #dlfaig Q1
