Disabled people are just trying to get by in life against a barrage of abuse and negativity. Many are in extreme pain with severe restrictions on mobility. Life takes on a whole new perspective when your life becomes small.

Dealing with disability feels similar to being dropped from great height into a confusing mire with little idea of who to ask for help. People who imagine that disability is a luxury know nothing of how exhausting it is to have to fight for everything.

There are so many problems with Canadian Disability Benefit. The insufficient amount. The eligibility process. The fact many have no family doctors. The fact the family doctors we have are busy trying to save lives not fill out MORE confusing & time-consuming paperwork.

I'm a person w/ actual problems - I have to get back to trying to compile docs and fight provincial government staff to get approved since the DAU acknowledged that I'm disabled - yet they still deny me disability! This is a real problem, unlike whatever CIJA bitches about.

Furthermore public transport for disabled people is difficult and nigh on impossible. Every day bus drivers will refuse to allow wheelchairs to board in favour of mothers with their children. Train passengers fill disabled spaces with luggage and companies don't deploy ramps.

No one knows what will happen tomorrow. Most of us with an acquired disability know how life can suddenly change. Those who think we have it easy don’t know the half of it or how costly living with a Disability is. No public transport option for many of us.
