Nicole Todd et al had the poster with the most catchy title: "What the F-POD? COmparing the F-POD and C-POD for monitoring of harbour porpoises". F-PODs are to replace C-PODs. Similar patterns of detections between them, but F-POD had more detections #ECSConference2023
Emily Martin et al presented "Review and update of Management Units for cetaceans in UK waters". The boundaries of these units is based on best knowledge of cetaceans species, including the harbour porpoise, the most common of all. #ECSConference2023
Laura Lusquiños et al: "Radiological study of the harbour porpoise pectoral fin in Galicia", an endangered subsp (Pp meridionalis). 45 porps analysed: similar structure but w/ind variation: not all have same n of phalanges! radiology can estimate age! #ECSConference2023
Alison Lomax et al presenting "Whale track: Expanding community-based cetacean monitoring on the west coast of Scotland using a smartphone app". Over 1500 cetacean sightings reported! 45% of all sightings were harbour porpoises #ECSConference2023

In under two weeks we had 2 talks on @ACCURATEProject, 1 at SOI @univofstandrews and 1 @EuroCetSoc #ECSconference2023 Great to have discussions about cue rates, what drives them, how to estimate them and when and how migh cue rates be used to inform PAM density estimation.
