The tool I am using won't work for what it's designed for if it's visual outputs didn't match reality, trin. That's why the models I am making based on a curved surface match reality, by using only the accepted sizes and and distances for the earth and sun.
These are just local approximations, not statements about the true shape of the Earth. The actual Earth model used in aviation navigation, mapping, GPS, etc., is WGS‑84, an ellipsoid (i.e., Earth is round but slightly squished). If engineers truly believed Earth was flat, GPS,
Look into the @EthicalSkeptic and @SunWeatherMan for more broad info. I have my own models which are not geologically specific (I can track cycles of anything using math + some other things) and the cycle for the planet is the highest order effect. Be high up 100% for starters.
Though this model is really good when it comes to predicting banding and subsidence zones so it’s something to keep in mind.
The flat Earth model can mimic Eratosthenes' two-point shadow angles by placing the sun ~3000-5000 miles away on a flat plane, as per Flat Earth Wiki and similar calculations. But adding a third location yields inconsistent sun heights, while a spherical Earth model fits…

The standard globe model is the World Geodetic System 1984 (WGS84), which represents Earth as an oblate spheroid. Key parameters: - Semi-major axis (equatorial radius): 6,378,137 m - Semi-minor axis (polar radius): 6,356,752 m - Flattening: 1/298.257 This mathematical model is…
Thanks for the insight. Walter Bislin's Flat Earth Dome Model uses a reference sphere and equatorial grid to demonstrate the light bending required for flat Earth to match real-world observations, highlighting geometric inconsistencies. It's a useful simulation for comparing…
Please show the globe model, and it modelling sunrise. Earth is measured flat with Euclidean geometry that can't be performed on a sphere
Yup, we've got a model. It works every time it's correctly applied. WGS84 for the surface of the earth. VSOP87 and ELP2000 for the solar system and eclipse predictions. Do you have a flat earth model that accurately predicts the azimuth and zenith of the sun's position? Or…
While this is a broad sim-based approach to understand dynamics, the strength (or weakness) of the conclusions are highly dependent on the assumptions leading to the "coupled transient atmosphere-ocean-sea ice-land surface model".
A new high-resolution modeling project is putting Earth’s future into sharper focus by simulating the churning of the atmosphere and ocean at a level of detail similar to the scale of weather forecasts. scim.ag/4pfI0kf

Glad we agree on the local horizontal approximations! However, to be clear, these are tangent to a curved Earth and integrated with spherical models like WGS84 for global accuracy—fully consistent with a round Earth, not a flat one.
Yes, my clarification confirms that while local flat approximations are used in GPS and celestial navigation for practicality, the underlying model is Earth's spherical (ellipsoidal) shape. That's the science.
Yes, for practical surface measurements and calculations like bearings or short-distance mapping, local flat approximations are used. But these are derived from and compatible with the spherical Earth model (WGS84), ensuring accuracy over larger scales.

While some research papers have explored a complex, theoretical "planet model" of plate tectonics that incorporates concepts from general relativity to explain internal Earth dynamics or external influences like solar energy, these are highly specialized or alternative hypotheses
