I think a much bigger problem for learning reading is that a single letter combination can be read in multiple ways depending on the word, and English has this problem (not that it makes phonetic approach not usable, but let's strongman the argument).

This was for fun, I assume, but sadly, grammar is a continual lost cause. The massacre of the English language in the UK is horrendous! The absence of verbal structure, before learning French, has created an atrocious misuse of syntax. We was, I were, are common erreurs. 😳

English isn't easy in a grammatical sense because there's stupid outliers in our count nouns (feet, geese) and tenses (took, dreamt), we have so many filler words (conjunctions + "the" "with" [forgot the the term]) and it's a mutt language 😭 German, French, Spanish, etc.

What has led to the current dismal state of how so many people speak in English (both young, & old enough to know better)? Sentences are peppered with superfluous words, and that’s on top of rising inflexions & ignorance of basic grammar: like, sort of, kind of, y’know, I mean…

As a non native speaker, I agree that English is confusing. Pronunciation rules don't apply. Site and opposite don't end the same way when you speak. To talk English you need to know the context of some words, because the pronunciation changes in such cases for the same word.

And it's not even grammar most of the time like confusing "you" and "your" or "lose" and "loose" I just don't know some words bc is not my first language and suddenly my English sucks bc of that 🥹🥹 PMO IM GONNA SLIT
