e aí você trata. É um caso excepcional, onde as garantias estão fora do esperado, e você precisa se recuperar de uma falha. Não tem nada a ver um exception existir com não haver type safety, pois a vida é feita de falhas

unhandled_exception でキャッチした例外を再送出するか握りつぶすかは選べるけど、再送出しつつ戻れるようにすることは流石にできなそう

According to all code I've ever reviewed, the purpose of exceptions is so the programmer writing a function can return a value to another function he also wrote so that he can call a logging function and take no action to recover anything at all.
