When @NYRangers coach #FrankBoucher learned that Edgar needed 5 grand to complete payment on his house. Frank offered Laprade $15 grand for 2 years and added a 5 grand bonus. To which Edgar replied; "I'll certainly sign." He did and became one of the Rangers best centers ever!
I had the good fortune to work for #FrankBoucher in 1954-55 in the @NYRangers publicity department under my boss, #HerbGoren. Boucher easily was one of the nicest, funniest and most wonderful hockey man you could want to meet.
I candidly say that the @NYRangers #FrankBoucher ranks among the nicest guys I've ever met anywhere. And very funny,
Sure did. At Writers-Fans Dinner, March 1954, #FrankBoucher and #JoeNichols of the Times did a memorable "Are You From Dixie?" song and dance that was one of the best vaudeville-type bits I've ever seen. Max and Doug Bentley were there; Johnny Bower and all 53-54 @NYRangers.
I have an interview I did with @NYRangers immortal #FrankBoucher on December 11 in my weekly #NHL,com historic feature. Frank, once my boss in 1954-55 when I worked in publicity for the club, told some fabulous stories. That's on a Wednesday with terrific tales of yesteryear.
I'm with you all the way. My #NHL.com piece on #FrankBoucher runs Wednesday, Dec. 11. You will like it.
Very big but later than the one I saw at old MSG. From a @NYRangers viewpoint -- and I later worked for #FrankBoucher -- it was as disheartening as any blown lead. Cat Francis was the goalie and I have a photo of the Robert goal. Not Emile's finest moment in goal. Ugh!!
By the way; kudos to You, my dear friend, for the Lester Patrick item. You forgot to mention one thing: I attended "Lester Patrick Night" at old MSG, Nov. 1947 when '28 Cup-winning @NYRangers #FrankBoucher, #TheCookBrothers, #ChingJohnson, et.al. attended. A-1.
I have just written a @NYRangers #FrankBoucher interview I did with the great man more than a half century ago. It's slated to run on NHL.com, Dec. 18. "Boosh" was one of a kind. He played the game so well and clean that Lady Byng gave him the original trophy!
Tuesday's Tell The Maven: The post-WW2 @NYRangers coach #FrankBoucher alternated goalies #ChuckRayner and #JimHenry every 4th shift for a short time. Why was the system stopped and who, specifically, ordered it stopped? (HINT: It wasn't Red Dutton or General John Reed Kilpatrick)
For all you many and honorable #FrankBoucher fans, my historic interview with Boucher will appear on NHL.com, Wednesday, December 18. Frank told me some fabulous stories and he was king of the story-tellers as well monarch of center ice.
Dave; Loved Sugar Jim. As a @NYRangers coach #FrankBoucher briefly changed goalies -- Henry to #ChuckRayner and then to Henry, as he changed lines. 2 fine goalies but plan didn't work. Once, Charlie had to loan Jim his goalie stick. They ran resort, Hockey Haven, near Kenora.
Answer to Wednesday's Tell The Maven: When the @NYRangers obtained D-man #AllanStanley, they gave up 5 players. R's publicist #StanSaplin asked g.m. #FrankBoucher the $ figure of the 5 guys worth. "Frank said '35 grand," Stan told me, "but I doubled it; gave the press 70 grand!"
Any comparison of top #Rangers must start with #FrankBoucher, #Bill Cook, #ChingJohnson and #BryanHextall.
Answer to Friday Tell The Maven: The 2 NHL stars who had served in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police were @NYRangers center #FrankBoucher and @NHLBruins ace defenseman Lionel Hitchman. Both Cup-winners and outstanding team players.
Here is an interview I did for a local Ottawa newspaper about Frank Boucher: mykemptvillenow.com/36610/local-fa… @StanFischler @Dave_Stubbs @1929Hockey @NHLhistorygirl @nyrangers @JimCerny @HFNYRangers #nyr #FrankBoucher

I’m going to Ottawa on Thursday for the #NYR game and would like to shake your hand for having the balls to say this. Go Kemptville! #FrankBoucher
Meeting the Boucher family was such a great experience. Gonna need a separate blog for this. They went above and beyond for us. Just awesome. #FrankBoucher @StanFischler #nyr #PlayLikeANewYorker
New York Rangers bench boss #FrankBoucher, right, greets overtime hero #BryanHextall in the visitor's dressing room
