Squatted 375lb today (170kg). Not an all time high, but a PR since I started lifting again in January and I'm trying to be mentally ok with where I am now. #fullstackhealth
PR at 397 lb squat today. Biggest issue was hip mobility, which caused me to have to back it up from a bit of a good morning position. Feels good after having a few days recently while moving where I couldn't mentally get myself to the gym #fullstackhealth
Deficit clean deadlift at 170kg. Felt strong and kept good form. 3s up into power position, 3s down. Hoping this translates into a new pull position I've been working for cleans #fullstackhealth
Today's lift Light snatch doubles. Snatch deadlift + high pulls at 80/70kg Squat, 120kg, 8reps. Jerk dips, 160kg. 5x3 Some quality time with a pain pill. a nap. #fullstackhealth
Welcome to the 1st #FullstackHealth Twitter Chat (inspired by #CodeNewbies)! We’re a new podcast on mental and physical health in the tech industry, and we’re trying to help de-stigmatize health issues by sharing with each other.
Q1: Does anxiety ever interfere with your day-to-day life? #FullstackHealth
Q3: How does anxiety affect your life more broadly, both personally and in your work in tech? #FullstackHealth
A1: Yeah. From conference talks to social situations I've had to develop a set of techniques to keep myself calm. Most effective for me is to keep leaning into the anxiety producing situations. The more I do them (livestreaming, conf talks, etc) the easier it is #FullstackHealth
Respond directly to each other, or on the thread, just make sure to include the #FullstackHealth hashtag!
Q2: Are there any particular things you do to avoid getting anxious or when you are feeling anxious? #FullstackHealth
Our very first episode touched broadly on mental health and anxiety. Today, we’re talking about anxiety. (If this isn’t a topic you want to see in your feed today, please mute #FullstackHealth -- hopefully temporarily!) First question in five...
How does it work? We’ll post a question, discuss, and then post a new question (total of three). All questions will be labeled (ex: Q1). In your answer, please indicate which question you're answering (ex: A1) and include the #FullstackHealth hashtag.
A3: Personally it means I avoid most events and no matter how much I miss game nights with friends, I always back out to the point where it’s just not a thing anymore. #FullstackHealth

A2: This is difficult because my anxiety has a much more controlling hold over me than it should. Stepping away is my go to. In the end, it leaves me exhausted and just wanting to be alone. #FullstackHealth
A3: Work is a lot of imposter syndrome. Most days I push through it but others I avoid sharing ideas or helping co-workers for fear of being “found out”. Outside of that, I miss a lot of happy hours, holiday parties, and other events that I know are crowded. #FullstackHealth
In the last episode of #FullstackHealth, we talked about what we can do to help our communities during #COVID19. Today, we chat about coping: anchor.fm/fullstack-heal…

A3 There were a couple times my anxiety completely prevented me from finishing projects I committed to. I've been trying now to focus only on one or two things so I don't let my focus wander too much. #FullstackHealth
I've been trying to focus on positive thoughts and on things that help me keep myself that way. Alot of it of late has come from my transitioning careers and I've been focusing on what I accomplished and continue to strive for to combat those feelings #FullstackHealth
A1: almost everyday, there are times where nothing is wrong but I'm waiting for a shoe to drop. It's something I've been working on and getting help with but it has in the past negatively affected my personal and professional life. #FullstackHealth
Its essentially a meditation that helps people visualize themselves as tiny specs in the universe and gradually plunging toward earth into a body and become a part of that body. I can no longer find the guided audio, but I'll post it if I do. #FullstackHealth

A3: I recognize that in my work in tech so far, my anxiety creates some hyper-vigilence, perhaps paying attention to details that may not matter as much as my blood pressure thinks. My best tool for that is a specific meditation. #FullstackHealth

Q3: How does anxiety affect your life more broadly, both personally and in your work in tech? #FullstackHealth
A1: Yes, my anxiety levels wax and wane monthly. It generally shows up when setting appropriate boundaries with people, being amongst large groups of people, or even performing (which is something I aspired to do professionally) #FullstackHealth
A2: track what my senses are experiencing and state it explicitely, "My hands feel cold, I smell chicken, I see a dog, my heart is pounding..." I find that by declaring these sensations aloud, it affirms reality and groundedness #FullstackHealth
