Finding out on the drive home that somehow northern nature on a rainy day was an unknown inspiration for the bead choices. #IKMath2023 Thank you for the opportunity and the two days of connections and learning.

Day 2 @LakeheadOrillia for #IKMath2023. Today was all about birch bark baskets, & the cultural teachings of the experience. The math connections during this task were so evident. We talked SA, V, Cap. , and informal methods of measurement. Oh! And assembled my loom bracelet!

incredible information shared at #IKMath2023 about the history of this land through wampum! How many educators @OttCatholicSB are including this in SS+ contemp studies?Let’s collaborate to review programs, learn& incorporate @lisahoweocsb @ErinPelhamDoak @scottsearle @scsanders13
I struggled with math because the numbers alone were too abstract.I needed the “why” of formulas.Looming is an authentic activity with cross curricular learning (esp math)+ knowledge transfer supports future less tactile problem solving. @MariluDeal @ocsbindigenous #IKMath2023

How do you see the patterns growing? BEST #visualpatterns day ever and that’s saying something because Visual Patterns is my favourite math routine! #IKMath2023 #Ethnomathematics #MTBoS
#grateful to Brian Charles for teaching us about the history of #Anishinaabe Wampum Belts. I had no idea the history of this land had been recorded in this way! And far more accurately than my colonizing ancestors did might I add! #IkMath2023 #Truth #History
Learning about the math in beading Anishinaabe medallions #IKMath2023 ❤️ getting the chance to both learn and be creative at the same time. Wishing far more students had access to this type of learning! #FPPL #IndigenousEd #MTBoS
