We can define "intention". We can even say we want to be more intentional. So what makes being intentional such a challenge? #INTENTedchat

It's that time! We're about to chat about #intentionality in the classroom this evening. We'll take a few moments for introductions and then share on! Join in anytime within this hour for #INTENTedchat!

Last week we discussed the meaning of #intentionality. This week it’s all about building the habit of #intentionality. Part two of the blog will be posted Wednesday and we’ll chat it up Thursday at 8 PM (CST) #INTENTedchat

Q4 The list of ways in which you’d like to be more intentional is likely unending. But if you were to create a list, what would be at the top? The last? I encourage you to think about listing the LAST, first. #INTENTedchat

Training ourselves means we are leaning into the habit of "thinking" intentionally, rather than "being" intentional, even if there is no follow through. How could this affect us as Ts? How could this affect our Ss? #INTENTedchat

Q5 We often try to attack the most difficult tasks first. But, as you build the habit of THINKING intentionally, it is best to practice with the easiest- even things that may seem meaningless- such as Ss lining up. So where could you start this week? How? #INTENTedchat

We'll be chatting in just an hour- 7PM EST! Check out the questions and be sure to use #INTENTedchat. Hope to see some of you from #BoostingAchievement #edchat #1stteachchat

Q3 The first small step in THINKING intentionally is to ‘Determine Purpose’. This sounds obvious, but let’s think about what comes to mind when you think about this idea. #INTENTedchat

#INTENTedchat A1 Relationships with Ss, Ts, and administration has become my mindset.
Being intentional is more than just doing things that make us feel good-it is about shifting our mindset. Because education is ever-changing based on new research/practices, we are spurred often to adjust our mindset. How have you noticed this for yourself as an T? #INTENTedchat

Thanks for joining #INTENTedchat ! That's a wrap for tonight. Next week I'll be hosting another chat on intentionality. @AlyssaTXteacher @1grdturtles @ChapaTISD spread the word and direct message me to provide feedback on strengths and improvements needed! Thanks!!!

Here’s your reminder for today: 2nd part of the series on #intentionalteaching is posted! Have a read @ catchingupwithcasey.com and let's chat #INTENTedchat this SUNDAY at 7PM CST

#INTENTedchat Determining purpose goes along with intentional planning. What the outcome will be to teach towards it.
A1 It is okay for students to make mistakes because it is that process of finding the reason why that makes them better. #INTENTedchat
A4 These are the questions asked when determining purpose (even if there's no follow through) @pereztorresh What is my purpose behind this? What do I want the students to be able to do? How do I want the students to feel? #Intentedchat
A4: Not to get too #RameyWay but ... 3. Have Ts recognize themsleves as valuable professionals in their organization. 2. Work together cohesively to ensure student growth. 1. Build Ss capacity to accomplish/surpass the goals they've been bound to by society. #INTENTedchat
Q5 We often try to attack the most difficult tasks first. But, as you build the habit of THINKING intentionally, it is best to practice with the easiest- even things that may seem meaningless- such as Ss lining up. So where could you start this week? How? #INTENTedchat

A4 I would like to be more intentional about the task and practice that my Ss are doing in order to become independent. My last would be whether I was simply meeting expectations of a plan. Ss needs should trump all other needs! #INTENTedchat
A1 It is okay for students to make mistakes because it is that process of finding the reason why that makes them better. #INTENTedchat
A4: first would be station/small group. I tend to be very intentional with the small group I’m working with using checklists and data, I could improve with what the rest of my class is doing at that time #INTENTedchat
I had a coach that used to say "if you practice perfect for 30 minutes, why would we stay for an hour and half". Quality not quantity...but you have to know exactly what skill you are trying to perfect. #INTENTedchat
#INTENTedchat A4 My top 3 areas to think intentionally. Sadly as it could be, pass the test. 3. Teach Ss to be independent. 2. Love for what they do (learning). 1. Bilingualism is an asset not an impediment.

A3 Determining Purpose is at the heart of differentiation. Purpose will look different for Ss and is highly related to personal engagement. Knowing our Ss and their needs will allow Ts to provide support with teaching Ss to set their own purpose for learning. #INTENTedchat
A3: Building off of @DrKWelsh...you have to ask "who will this benefit?" If it is what makes your life easier, probably establishing a "weak" purpose. If it is what you like to do but limits Ss opportunity to be challenged, again probably a "weak" purpose. #INTENTedchat
A3 @1grdturtles thinking about your response also makes me consider if we really differentiate when we determine purpose- have I considered ELs? SPED? Proficient learners? It's far too easy to bulk our students in one group when determining purpose #Intentedchat
Q3 The first small step in THINKING intentionally is to ‘Determine Purpose’. This sounds obvious, but let’s think about what comes to mind when you think about this idea. #INTENTedchat

Ss can sense if you are genuinely prepared and are respecting time. To many mindsets "time is money". And people dont like it when you mess with their money. But the appreciate it when you help them capitialize on an investment. 😋 #INTENTedchat
#INTENTedchat Determining purpose goes along with intentional planning. What the outcome will be to teach towards it.
A2 Schools spend time asking Ss why they are learning content but Ts may not ask themselves why they are teaching the content or what is the best instruction. We ask a lot of ?s of others but not of ourselves - we need to train our brains to question ourselves! #INTENTedchat
A2: It only takes a few days to build a habit. By merely thinking intentionally you can start to shape the classroom culture & make it more effective. Also if you put it out in the universe someone can help ensure follow through, like feedback from Ss. #INTENTedchat
#INTENTedchat That is my administration favorite word, be intentional. That canges everything. I just need more time one on one with Ss.
Merriam-Webster defines INTENTION as "a determination to act in a certain way." What role does #intentionality play in the classroom? #INTENTedchat

Intentionality is KEY in #education . Here are the questions we'll be discussing the next 30 minutes! #INTENTedchat

Merriam-Webster also shows this definition for intention: what one intends to DO or BRING ABOUT. How does intentionality affect academic, social, or behavioral growth? #INTENTedchat #edchat #intention #intentionalteaching

It is my belief that anyone, yes anyone, can teach. But there's a difference between a teacher an an #intentional instructional leader. What are those differences? #INTENTedchat
