Armed with a new understanding of the air around us, these girls came up with a very unique parachute design for our Parachuting Gummy Bear Challenge. #KiserClass #WeAreMidview
Spending spring break in the Metroparks. Can’t get enough of this weather or the migrating warblers! Today’s hike...Lake to Lake trail. Lake Isaac was a hot spot for birds this sunny afternoon. #TimeToExplore @clevemetroparks #KiserClass
Collaborative work to achieve our goals! We will be anxiously awaiting the next rainy day so we can record some precipitation data. #KiserClass #WeAreMidview
For ten months they were “MY” second graders. Now they have sprouted wings and are off to bigger & better things. Class of 2029, I will miss you dearly! Thank you for a wonderful year! #KiserClass #WeAreMidview
A rain gauge is a tool used by meteorologists to measure precipitation. We are adding them to our collection of student made, functional weather measurement tools. #KiserClass #WeAreMidview
Parachuting Gummy Bear Challenge: Build a parachute to safely, slowly, & delicately transport a gummy bear from the highest point of the playground to the mulch below. #WeAreMidview #KiserClass
We have been learning all out the ocean of air all around us (atmosphere) in class. A huge shout out to meteorologist Jon Loufman for visiting North Elementary to share his expertise! @LoufmanWeather #WeAreMidview #KiserClass
A couple of teams did some modifications to their anemometers today. Hoping to have a little more success (and stability). Rain gauges are also in place now. #KiserClass #WeAreMidview
XtraMath all-star here! This young man is unstoppable! He loves math, answering in-depth comprehension questions, and scientific discovery! Congrats on the achievement dude! #WeAreMidview #KiserClass
Today’s monarch caterpillar count: 21! One of them is in the “hanging J”. Could have a chrysalis by morning. 🐛🦋 #KiserClass #butterflynursery #sciencerocks
The Parachuting Gummy Bear Challenge was a huge success. All gummy bears reached the ground safely. Yay! Although each group tested their parachutes 3 times for scientific research, we couldn’t resist dropping them all at one time before wrapping up. 😀#KiserClass #WeAreMidview
Meteorologists use anemometers to detect wind speed. After studying design, structure, and purpose, we built our own. #KiserClass #EarthScience #WeAreMidview #anemometer
Data Anaylisis Project: Day 5 The students created @GetKahoot using the team graphs. Today, we had fun playing Kahoot and taking all the tests! #KiserClass #WeAreMidview
Checkout some of these cool wind power car designs! I am so impressed with how the students worked together to build, test, and modify. Future engineers, designers, and visionaries here! #KiserClass #WeAreMidview #windpower
Sometimes we all just need a good belly laugh. This young man shared a silly story with us today and brought a smile to every face in the room. ❤️ #KiserClass #WeAreMidview @kelly_papay
Testing out our student designed wind powered cars. Some of them traveled over 30 feet! Incredible! #KiserClass #windpower #WeAreMidview
This young man may be a bit camera shy, but he is on his way to great things! Not only was he our student of the month for April, but he also completed @XtraMath_US subtraction! Way to go!!! #KiserClass #WeAreMidview
Data Analysis Project: Day 3 - The students are creating test questions based on their graphs and the data collected. They will give their tests to the class on Friday. #DataAnalysis #WeAreMidview #KiserClass
Sometimes scientific discovery means getting your hands dirty. This class makes sure all of the crabs basic needs are met and are constantly looking for new animal enrichment ideas. #KiserClass #WeAreMidview #crabitats
…and he’s off! #KiserClass favorite, Matthew Failor is headed to Nome and we will be rooting for him as we track #TheLastGreatRaceOnEarth. @The_Iditarod #Iditarod2025 #Alaska #CurrentEvents ##LearnByDoing

Don’t be alarmed! This is SBD, one of our classroom hermit crabs. This morning, we discovered that he is molting. Looks like SBD is a healthy, growing young crab! Of course, we had to make some scientific observations. #KiserClass #becauseSCIENCE #WeAreMidview
Since we completed the Data Analysis unit in math, we are taking some time to apply our new skills in a real life situation. Today, teams of students brainstormed survey questions and chose possible answers. #KiserClass #DataAnalysis #WeAreMidview
