I love pie charts. Apart from the one that breaks down how we communicate with 7% words blah blah blah. Coz that's just a #learningmyth like Learning Styles and a crock of sh*t. #LTUK23

Had a colleague once scoff at the left-brain/right-brain #learningmyth as hare-brained! My personal fave is the learning styles yet many still believe I wonder which ones you encounter in your design efforts. Focus on the performance needs & metrics. buff.ly/3Kw19dZ

We use 10% of our brains. #learningmyth #LT15uk. Hollywood perpetuates this myth.
People remember 10% of what they read, 20% of what they hear, 30% of what they see, 50% of what they see and hear, 70% of what they say and write, & 90% of what they do...Right? Wrong. mcgill.ca/x/4ef #learningmyth
Right brain people are more creative. Left brain people are more analytical - #learningmyth. #LT15uk

Here’s my ode to that brilliant IKEA TikTok, with me being grumpy about learning myths. Hat tip to my daughter’s editing skills.
Another #learningmyth busted! We all pretty much want the same things from work.
RT: More evidence to quiet the "generational" difference believers. Stage of life, NOT birth yr. more meaningful #HR
Why should you become a #learningmyth debunker? There are a lot of facets to that question. Why should you care? Similarly, there are some strong answers. And how do you protect yourself going forward? Let’s address that too. 👌 ow.ly/WgZv30qzNrN #eLearningdesign

Debunk This: People Remember 10 Percent of What They Read
Will Thalheimer reminds L&D professionals that the most important thing we can do is be skeptical when we encounter “research” or evidence.
People remember 10% of what they read, 20% of what they hear, 30% of what they see, 50% of what they see and hear, 70% of what they say and write, & 90% of what they do...Right? Wrong. mcgill.ca/x/4ef #learningmyth
Love this. Classes are NOT the prerequisite for the type of context in which learning occurs. How many of us had classes that were facilitated poorly such that our learning occurred in spite of our teachers. #learningmyth
Indeed, so much student learning happens outside of classes--regardless of modality. Education journeys are not just a collection of classes. They are at times an integrated & at other times unplanned, serendipitous, & challenging set of experiences that can include classes.
