#MovePeopleNotVehicles Many cities across the globe have figured this out and are able to survive today with heavy emphasis on cycling and bus & metro. Indian cities will get there too, sooner than later. Just a matter of time
Hope the politicians have an open mind & listen to their own senior officers that have managed traffic for decades - @masaleemips @blrcitytraffic earlier & @CPBlr Dayananda now both speaking truth to power. #MovePeopleNotVehicles #ModaluPublicTransport #Personal2Public
#THTalksBengaluru | “Flyovers and signal-free corridors do not solve traffic congestion in the city. It will mostly shift the bottleneck from one junction to another,” Mr. Dayananda said. @adibharadwaja reports thehindu.com/news/cities/ba…

#THTalksBengaluru: ‘Flyovers and signal-free corridors do not solve traffic congestion’
“Flyovers and signal-free corridors do not solve traffic congestion in the city. In fact, there is a concept that the provision of such infrastructure will invite more traffic onto these corridors...
Some day! Hopefully in my lifetime #BusLaneIsNoBrainer #MovePeopleNotVehicles Did you know that Ahmedabad and few other cities have BRTS? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_b…
Building flyovers to prevent traffic jams is same as using bandaid on a fracture. It may hide the problem for a bit but will cause more damage. We need to declare #FlyoverHoliday for 10 years & focus on mass transport, autos, cycling & footpaths #MovePeopleNotVehicles
You build Flyovers to prevent traffic jams. But if there is a traffic jam on that flyover itself, what will you build?
Connect the dots... @CMofKarnataka doesn't wish to solve mobility problem, only waste money on flyovers! Nowhere is irony so great - Public know what should be done & Govt clueless! #MovePeopleNotVehicles #PublicTransport @ut_MoHUA @amitabhk87 @g20org @U20India @BMTC_BENGALURU
When a motor vehicle gets bought, the revenue tap opens for the government- life tax, road tax & every drop of petrol. Every repair & spare part “attracts” GST. Did I mention tolls? So, what is the incentive for any government to promote public transport? #MovePeopleNotVehicles
Sunday Suddhi! #Bengaluru #Traffic 50.33lakhs in 2011 to 1.04Cr in 2022! Reminds me of a quote that I read while in college - “we are not stuck in traffic, we are traffic!”. @MayaSharmaNDTV @citizenmatters @CBhattacharji @zenx
#MovePeopleNotVehicles Bengaluru and Hyderabad are prime examples of how increasing road infra has only made traffic congestion worse. Stop building roads around the Metro routes. Encourage people to use Metro and EV buses! Improve last mile connectivity
The basic logic of any transport project explained. If it serves to promote more private vehicles then it is bad, if it will incentivize people to use public transport (or walk/cycle) then it is good. Simple. Accordingly Vetal Tekdi tunnel is BAD.
Ironic that one of the better cities for public transport in India - the ruling party MLA asks for votes promising more flyovers! #MovePeopleNotVehicles #BringBackTheTram
Removing flyovers and expressways from the middle of the cities and making them into public spaces started in the 90s across the world - induced demand is a scientifically proven thing and the solution is also quite clear. #MovePeopleNotVehicles
Never forget that when Seoul, Korea removed the Cheonggyecheon expressway in 2003 & replaced it with a restored stream & 1000 acre park in the city’s centre, not only did it transform the city’s public life & economic success, but the traffic got better. The traffic got BETTER.
The cycling movement in Bengaluru is taking off faster than I imagined.any cities across the globe have gone thru a transformation from being car-centric to 🚲 cities & it is now the turn of Indian cities! I support #15MinCity @bicyclemayorblr @Janaagraha1 #MovePeopleNotVehicles
Sometimes it takes 50 years to learn the SAME lesson. #MovePeopleNotVehicles #CommonSense #FlyoversSaaku
For all naysayers in India 😋 'Our city is not Amsterdam'. Well, so wasn't Amsterdam! It took long, deliberate and consistent work. And a conscious, joint decision to change! ~Zeilstraat, #Amsterdam 1970s Do we have it in us - the political will and action plan ?
#MovePeopleNotVehicles Beats logic. Serves vested interests. And we applaud? Govt+industry continue to conspire against people's best interests. Cities could do well w/ fewer pvt vehicles. As all EVs charge with environmentally destructive power; roads to get further crowded.
Big move: Giving a major impetus to Electric Vehicle mobility Govt has approved installation of 2600 EV charging stations in 62 cities under FAME -2. Atleat one charging station will be available in a grid of 4 KM *4 km. This would remove range anxiety.
Imagine they are all electric cars ... A clean traffic jam is still a traffic jam... We must use the road space to #MovePeopleNotVehicles

Fix the "ground" issues first, we need footpaths which are accessible by the #disabled #movepeoplenotvehicles #TenderRadduMaadi
