Silver Cones, Dunmore Cave, Kilkenny, Late 10th Century AD. These objects were made of silver wire & probably belong to a single garment which they were used to fasten. Chequered & quartered patterns. The tread is a very thinly wound silver wire. #museumobjects #nmiobjects

For #InternationalDayOfPeace we are sharing this slip made from #AshfordBlackMarble, inlaid with a white dove, carrying a twig.🕊️ The "marble" was quarried at Ashford-in-the-Water until c.1905, although inlaying carried on in Buxton until the 1920s. #MuseumObjects #BuxtonMuseum
