Renal Bx. Interesting neutrophils in glomerular capillary loops. Patient is positive for myeloperoxidase (MPO) autoantibodies. I interpret this as neutrophil apoptosis (#NETosis). But I don't see any extracellular traps (NETs). Are NETs visible by electron microscopy? #askrenal

What about #NETosis - where neutrophils 'spill their guts' forming webs of DNA nets. ✴️We didn't see specific mitochondrial NETs, where only the mitochondria are ejected. ✴️Blood NETs not ⬆️in IBD, unlikely to cause 📈 mitochondrial DNA #mitochondria #neutrophils @HelmsleyTrust
