A4: I've learned so much in the last semester. One thing that sticks out is that it's so important to be flexible and try new things. Virtual learning has provided so many opportunities to reexamine what good teaching looks like and find ways to grow. #nnpschat
A2: I Love scavenger hunts for the younger students. It's a great icebreaker in getting the blood flowing and excitement for learning. #NNPSCHAT
#NNPSChatA0: Teri Pittman excited every day to lead the Hidenwood with @brianjlieberman . My goal '21 is to eat right and be more mindful #NNPSChat
A4- My biggest takeaway is our teachers and students can achieve no matter what comes our way. #NNPSChat
I: Hi everyone! Chris Pilger, very proud principal of @DSASTEM ! Taught 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades once upon a time! #NNPSChat
Greetings from Patriots! I am Dr. Eleanor Blowe, Principal of Denbigh High School "Home of the Patriots!" #NNPSChat
A2: Teaching students how to engage online is kind of like reviewing expectations. They need reminders and good good modeling! #NNPSChat
Good Evening. I am Joanne Jones, Executive Director of Curriculum and Development. I am always excited to join these chats to hear about all the awesome strategies being implemented in NNPS! #NNPSChat
A2: How fast the hour for math goes, and going into the reading time... I am using an alarm clock to keep me on pace #NNPSChat
I know #NNPSChat is over for now but our learning never stops. I ran across this article and thought this quote applied well to our topic on #StudentEngagement
“It’s not enough to offer choices; we must also help students understand and navigate the choices we offer.” When you give students a choice about how to learn about a particular topic, it helps them learn in the way that is right for them. edutopia.org/article/how-un…
Have a great and safe Spring Break everyone. Thank you @nnpschat for hosting another twitter chat. #NNPSCHAT
A4- When we return from spring break, CTE is in testing mode. I plan to engage students on the importance of a certification. I will have students explore 5 certifications they would like to gain before graduating high school. #NNPSCHAT
#NNPSchat it should look like a conversation, questioning, discussion.
FA: I plan to create the space for creativity and curiosity to thrive. It is not only about student voice, but also about student thought, and action… #NNPSChat
FA: I'm hoping to partner with some of my Ts to look at ways we can provide voice and choice to Ss through mastery paths in @CanvasLMS. #NNPSChat
FA: I would like to offer younger Ss (and in turn families) choice in what experiences they want to try (ex: Fine Motor Choice Boards), or how they want to show what they know (using @Seesaw creative tools). #NNPSChat
A5: I plan to use choiceboards. My team has discussed creating an “escape room” activity. And continue to give them options on how to submit their work (text, pic, audio, video) #NNPSChat
#NNPSchat Feedback needs to be specific in order to be helpful and help them grow.
A5 - I'm hopeful to observe voice and choice where students become owners of their learning. (Ex. A 3x3 matrix with 9 total questions where each row increases by level of difficulty and students are asked to choose one problem from each row to solve.) Students select! #NNPSChat
Q5: I'm going to continue with my monthly checks and keep trying to come up with different activities! As long as they say they are enjoying what we are doing, then that's what we'll continue. Hopefully we can finish the year out positively! #NNPSChat
I like recording my feedback using Canvas. Or when a student emails me asking for help on the assignment, I can record instructions. Good tools. #NNPSCHAT
A4: How I give feedback on assignments I find @CanvasLMS has so many tools in the speed grader. I highlight, I may record my feedback to a student. I try to respond to all open-ended questions from students. #NNPSCHAT
A4: Feedback is meaningful when the intent is pure. I like to give “live” feedback whenever possible, but if not, I try to create a written document or a digital note… #NNPSChat
A4: Heard this week at a @VirtualVirginia PD: "Feedback should be a dialogue, not a monologue." In @canvasLMS, the ability for Ts AND Ss to provide/respond to feedback as text, audio, and/or video feedback helps achieve this goal! #NNPSChat
A4: Meaningful feedback is specific and for younger students it can include validation for ideas shared, a compliment, and a "Next time, maybe you can try..." #NNPSChat
A4: Meaningful feedback should be purposeful for that particular student....what they did well on, what they may specifically need to do to correct an answer. I am working on this, because it is so easy to give a standard “good job” or “please redo this” #NNPSChat
A4 - Meaningful feedback should be cyclic and ongoing. Students thrive on teacher feedback. Implementation of formative assessments along the way provides opportunity for continued feedback to not only improve student learning but also student confidence! #NNPSChat
A3: Strategies I have incorporated. #1, allow mistakes. I create @GetKahoot to prepare students to our Industry Certifications and I will ask the same question several different ways to see if students are actively listening as well as can majority answer correctly. #NNPSCHAT
A2 Motivating our students in the virtual platform so that the mic and cameras are on. Lessons can be exciting to our learners face to face or from a distance. Planning is the key. #NNPSChat
#NNPSChatA0: Teri Pittman excited every day to lead the Hidenwood with @brianjlieberman . My goal '21 is to eat right and be more mindful #NNPSChat
