I had the fortune of meeting Jonathan Nelson and his mother this summer in Chinle. Glad to see this book doing well 🙌 #NativeKidLit
I've been finding joy and encouragement with the Native writing community. Native published works are increasing and I'm happy to spread the word! writerandreapage.com/books/2-favori… #Nativebooks #Nativekidlit #blogboost
I’ve had several people tell me that my books have made them tear up. I’m kicking myself for not asking if they’re happy tears or sad tears. It could go either way. Today it was the head of security at Cherokee Central Schools after reading Fall in Line, Holden! #NativeKidLit
#Herizon got third place at the Navajo Film Festival. I don’t know about you, but that’s pretty cool. #NativeKidLit
Signed a Writer Work for Hire Agreement for a story I proposed to a big time publisher. Crazy I could only afford a pencil eraser at this publisher’s book festival growing up and now I’m going to have a book by them. #NativeKidLit
Gonna be attending with my family to celebrate this group of amazing creatives. This year’s reception is open to the community’s #AIYLA # AILA #NativeKidLit

There are an additional 125 copies of We Weave circulating in the northern and eastern agencies. The biggest threat to all the craziness right now is a young Navajo with a book. Much love to Beclabito, Ojo Encino, and Mariano Lake for welcoming me to your community. #NativeKidLit

Today we read with 1st graders, When We Are Kind written by Monique Gray Smith (Cree/Lakota) & illustrated by Nicole Neidhardt (Diné). We talked about what kindness means, kindness to the land, to our elders & self. "elders" was a new word for some. 🖤 #nativekidlit #librarylife
Showed my next book to an illustrator and she cried. It’s going to be a special. #NativeKidLit
Nothing but love for Tsé Bit A'í Middle School for turning up for my reading at DC-Shiprock. Engaging with the youth is the best part of being an author 🙌. I also dropped off two signed copies of #Herizon at the Shiprock Chapter House’s book giveaway. #NativeKidLit
Working with an illustrator to create my next book. It’s a story about a boy and his grandmother using their creativity to purchase a computer when school transitions to virtual learning. #NativeKidLit #DiverseVoices #NavajoNation

#Herizon is going to be made into an animated short film. Are there any other kid lit books that have been animated? Any publishers pushing for this type of work? #NativeKidLit
