The use of models is often doubted and criticized, yet at least it's a reasonable projection based on something. In this case some #numericalmodels of location and intensity proved to be almost exact, although that was not the intention or a necessity. #Florence

For the last 14 model cycles, 168 hours, or 7 days, the @ECMWF ensemble mean forecast landfall location for #Florence was 100 miles or less (!) from where it actually occurred (Wrightsville Beach, NC). That is an INCREDIBLE meteorological feat.
