Agreed! Our study #OPTPACE prelim results show HF med optimisation is much better in specialist #heartfailure in-hospital clinics than primary care for pacemaker patients. I think the key is having specialised multidisciplinary care wherever that is! #cardiology #cardiacscientist

OPT...OPT is the weakest link of all. No OPT, the F1 pipeline collapses. No OPT and the H1B collapses. The great thing is: OPT was never a Congressional thing. It was a pure DHS move and can be removed by Trump through an EO.

In some sense, this is worse than H1B, which can be cleaned up over time with oversight. OPT, as it is, incentivizes universities to sell access to the US labor market through degrees. Sick business. It also steals jobs from our best men.
Exactly, OPT is essentially a loophole exploited to bring in cheap foreign labor under the guise of student training. Unlike H-1B, which requires congressional authorization, OPT was created administratively, so it’s more easily revocable if the administration decides to act
There are programs besides just H-1B that need to also be cancelled. OPT (Optical Practical Training) allows cheap foreign labor of international students to work during and after graduation. 500,000+ are active now. Congress never created it. Bureaucrats did. Trump can end it.
The Optional Practical Training program is a cheap foreign-labor program for big companies and universities. But it's undermining young Americans. It’s time to overhaul or possibly end this terribly broken program all together. 🧵
